I am running Office 2003 with a mersonal folder *.pst. Everything was working
well but I must have made some stupid change. Now I can't see Outlook Today.
It does not appear in the Navigaion Pane shortcuts either.

Also I have three folders I can not delete. Two of them say " The messaging
interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart
Outlook." The other says "Operation Failed. An object could not be found."

I used detect/repair and various other things suggested by the knowledge
base. No luck.

Try creating a new profile via Control Panel | Mail | Show Profiles.

I get an error message: "You need more memory or system resources. Close some
windows and try again." Only the Control Panel window was open. I have 512MB
memory.

Hmmm...did you make any changes to Windows recently? Installing updates, etc.?

Jocelyn,

I think I solved the problem. One of the MS KB articles suggested changing
all MAPI*.dll files to *.old. I did that and then reinstalled Outlook. One of
teh MAPI files in \windows\system32 was not restored. Outlook worked except
for the inability to create a new profile. Scansoft PaperPort reported the
error. After replacing the MAPI file it seems to work.

Thanks,
Karl Berger
