Outlook through a network

I have a problem with outlook working (email). I have my
desktop connected to DSL. I have a wireless card
communicating with a hub (connected to the desktop).
Everything works (i.e. file sharing, printer sharing). I
just can't get Outlook to send a test email. It keeps
saying that it can't log into my POP3 server or send a test
email message (outgoing mail server).
I went to verizon's website (my DSL provider) and I
followed the directions to set up my SMTP.
The dude on the phone keeps telling me that its an outlook
problem.
I'm wondering if its because I'm going though a wireless
router. Does anyone have any experience with this?
And I don't have outlook on my desktop computer, just my
laptop computer.
Thanks

Did you set your outgoing server to authenticate? The option is on the
server tab of your account properties.

Hey Milly,
thanks for the reply. Yes I have my outgoing server to
authenticate. I have also tried it without that option
selected. It fails both ways.
Thanks
