Outlook Outlook Telephone Number Format

In Outlook, any telephone number I enter that has only 7 digits, a (1) is added to the beginning of the number and it won't let me delete the "(1)".

So when I enter 870-6260, it defaults to (1) 870-6260.

I sync Outlook with a Palm phone, so I don't want the area code, so as to dial local when I want to.

How do I get rid of the (1) and/or set Outlook so that is not the default?

There are several versions of outlook, please name one, preferably the one you use.

As a general rule, Outlook is dumb, so it takes the "format" from your dialing properties/area. Open Phone and Modem Options in the Control Panel and set a location, hint, set it to none.
