I am running Outlook 2002 SP2 on XP Pro SP1. The problem
is that whenever I close Outlook, it continues to run in
the background, sometimes multiple times. If I open task
manager, I see OUTLOOK.EXE running and using like 19MB of
memory. I have reinstalled Office XP, but that hasn't
fixed the problem.

We had this same problem, turns out we were closing
Outlook by using the x box in the upper right corner. This
can leave parts of Outlook still monitoring things and can
keep multiple copies open and eating resources. The fix is
simple. Close the program by using the File>Exit instead
of the x. This closes the program completely. (Like I
thought the x would)
Hope this helps,
Bob

microsoft outlook exits.." I use 3 differen W2k boxes to check my
e-mail. On two of the m I have outlook 2000 and the other one is out
look 2003. I receive this errors on the 2000 boxes and it works fine
with the outlook 2003 box. It seemed like it started after I
installed outlook 2003 on one of the boxes. There is 3 other people
that use this 3 computers for e-mail and they don't have a problem
with their e-mail. We are using exchange 5.5.
Does anybody have any ideas what might be causing this.
Thanks
Gonzalo
