I'm running Windows XP Pro with 2.8ghz CPU and 1gb RAM,
and whenever I try to start Outlook XP it takes sometimes
over a minute to start. Is there anything I can do to fix
this? Other Office apps start right up, as do all other
programs... Outlook is the only one I'm having problems
with. It's not connecting to an Exchange server, just
Internet Mail. Any ideas?

Thanks

Don

How big is your PST file? Have you run scanpst.exe (inbox repair tool) on
it? Compacted it recently?

Also, are you shutting down normally? If you turn off the
power while Outlook is alive, it can corrupt the .pst and
then it spends time rebuilding stuff.

I do shut down the computer normally... and I can't
remember the .pst file size, but it's small. I just
installed Oulook about 6 days ago and it has only has
about 4 weeks worth of messages. I haven't run scanpst or
compacted it, didn't think of them since the pst was just
built under a week ago and it's been like this from the
start. I'll try running them tonight

Thanks

Don

Try disabling the integration with Instant Messenger in Tools | Options |
Other and see if that speeds things up.
