outlook start up problem - corrupt .pst file?

When I sat down at the computer yesterday and launched Outlook (2003, running
on Windows XP Home, stand alone computer) I got the message "Cannot start MS
Office Outlook. Unable to open the Outlook window. The set of folders could
not be opened. The server is not available. Contact your administrator if
this condition persists."

I have tried everything I can think of, including all of the suggestions on
this site. So far I have:
- run Repair through Add/Remove
- run scanpst.exe on all .pst files - first time it found and fixed errors;
subsequent runs showed nothing.
- upgraded to Norton Systemworks 2005 and run all options (Antivirus,
systemdoctor, Windoctor, Check up, etc.)
- tried starting Outlook in Safe Mode, but still same problem

When I go into Control Panel-Mail-Data Files, I can see Personal Folders,
but under comments it says ""Mail Delivery I..." - the rest is cut off. When
I select Settings, I get "An unknown Error Occured. Error code: 0x80040600".

Help! Is my e-mail folder corrupted? What do I do next to repair this? I
run a business from home and am freaking out that I can't access any of my
recent e-mails.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
