Help, how can I get the spell checking to work on my new
Windows xp outlook express program.

By clicking on Tools, Options and then the Spelling tab and select the
options you want. No Spelling tab, click on Help in OE, type spelling and
then click display and read why you don't have a Spelling tab.

You must have MS Word installed to make the spell checker functional. Once
this is done, other directions apply.

Pasg,

You require MS Office to be installed to enable spell check in OE. If MS
Office is not installed, make use of this tool. The following application
copies spellcheck engine and creates the registry keys required:

You dont need to manually extract csapi3t1.dll. The above fix does it all
automatically.

Greetings --

Outlook Express, as you've discovered, has no spell-checking
capabilities of its own. Instead, it relies upon the presence of
other Microsoft applications, such as the Office Suite, Word, or the
Works _Suite_ (which includes Word, not the regular Works). There are
also some 3rd-party shareware/freeware solutions available at any of
the many shareware sites on the Internet

Spell Magic seems well thought-of, though I haven't tried it myself:

Word can be purchased as a stand-alone application. The Office suite, while
nice, is not necessary unless other apps are wanted. I mention this as
there is a financial consideration of hundreds of extra, maybe unnecessary,
dollars.
