I just purchased a new HP computer with Outlook on it.
When I go to the Tool/Options in Outlook I don't have a
tab that says "Spelling" on it. What do I do to get this
tab? I have the Spellcheck icon but it is always grayed
out. I when to a website last night called
www.MichaelStevens.something or other with instructions on
how to fix this problem but none of their solutions
worked. Does anyone else have an idea? Or a phone number
for Microsft that they aren't going to charge me.

Hi

Have you got either MS Word, Excel or Powerpoint installed? One of those three will provide access to the Spell Checker.

Neither Windows XP, nor any other version of Windows, has ever
come with a Spell Checking facility. Outlook Express uses the
spell checker that comes with Microsoft Word, (or another
Microsoft Office program) if you have it installed.

If you don't have Word or Office installed, you probably don't
have a spell checker. However there are several downloadable
freeware/shareware alternative spell checkers that work with
Outlook Express and Outlook. Since I have no personal experience
with any of these, I'll let someone else recommend one.

On the other hand, if a Microsoft Office component *is*
installed, try the instructions at
