Hi,

I have a problem with Outlook XP SP2. The email server is
Exchange 2000 SP3.

In preview mode when I click on any message it takes
about 10-15 seconds to read the email. When I have a look
at the Task Manager I see that MSMSGS.EXE is taking a lot
of processing, from 40-60%. Meanwhile the Outlook client
just hangs there with a blank lower screen.

Without preview mode there is no problem. Although when I
double click a message to read it the above problem
happens. So it is something to do with the actual reading
of the message.

I recently loaded a beta of Frontpage 2003 and it was
around this time that the problem started. I have since
removed the beta from my machine but the problem
continues. I have also completed a detect and repair from
the help menu of Outlook but again the problem still
exists. A more tenuous link is that I updated the server
to SP4 (windows 2000) but I think this was after the
problem started.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Marc Juffkins

Try disabling the instant messenger integration. (Tools | Options | other)

Thanks that worked a treat!! I now remember disabling IM
from loading at machine startup so I guess this is when
the problem started.

All the best,
Marc
