Outlook slow retrieving mail question

I have some clients who's Outlook retrieves mail very slowly from the
server and other very quickly. Some are on identical systems. Virus
scanners have been turned off for testing; All network settings on the
NIC and TCP/IP have been set and tweaked; All patches, hotfixes,
service packs (for OS and Office) have been applied; some of the
Outlook clients simply retrieve the mail much much slower. And by
retrieve mail I mean when clicking on the message, it appears either
very fast or very slow.

Any ideas?

Nobody has slow mail but me...in the whole world?
