I have been using Outlook 2000 for at least a year on my
coputer with Windows XP. All of a sudden I am encoutering
a continual problem. About 1 minute after recieving an e-
mail a dialog comes up saying "Outlook has encoutered a
problem and must shut down." Can anyone tell me what may
be happening. I have not added any new hardware or
software, I have reinstalled Office 2 times and I have
reinstalled XP once to try and fix the problem.

Thank you

First, are you using McAfee version 7.x? If yes, then check with McAfee as
there is a known problem in the integration with Outlook.

If not, then try first running Detect and Repair on your Outlook.
(Help->Detect and Repair) If that does not work, then try running
scanpst.exe against your Outlook Data file. You can find the tool by using
Windows Search - be sure to turn on the ability to search Hidden and System
files.

How big is your .pst file?

Now that I understand how this message center works, I
was able to see your response from last week. I'm sorry I
just realized it was there this morning. I took all of
the steps you suggested, but Outlook is still shutting
down. My Outlook .pst file is 29,833kb. I am not running
McAfree Virus Scan. Do you have any other suggestions to
try?
