Outlook was working until recently. I cannot find the reason for its
unexplained behavior. It prompts with an error message just after it starts
up that it cannot find the files please contact your administrator. I
uninstalled, deleted all files after making a backup of my PST file.
Restarted and reinstalled and I get the same message. I use a PocketPC as
well. several weeks ago it lost its ability to sync. I am not sure if these
issues are related. My laptop is virus and spyware free.

If this were happening to me, I'd start with a fresh mail profile.

Unfortunately that won't work as the issue is tied into the OS and Office
registry files I believe. I need to fix the issues with office short of
removing and reinstalling. What I didn't mention in the limited space is
that I cannot even update both MS XP PRO or any of the office files. There
appears to an issue with an msi file or corruption beyond a simple fix. One
of the links I have followed on MS Tech is that Malware appears to be the
culprit. Currently I have "fixed" my PST file but am unable to the calendar
and some critical functions of Outlook. This is despite running some of the
simpler fix operations that can be found however, the Outlook fix says I
cannot uninstall the latest patch! I am about to back up settings and
recreate the OS and Office on the laptop from scratch and use the file
settings and transfer wizard which I am most accustomed to. Doing this will
also require I reload all software and settings on my Pocket PC which also
has stopped functioning. I live on the PC (I actually have quite a number of
them). I am waiting for a microsoft tech to get back to me. What a mess.
Thank you for your suggeston!
