I synchronize my contacts in outlook with my phone, however I have some
contacts that don't have email addresses (yes, there are still people out
there without an email address....) and I was not able to add the contact to
the address book unless I entered an email address. It seems like it is
adding it, but it never shows up in the address book. If I try to add it
again I receive a message that the contact already exists and if I want to
overwrite it, but it is not displayed in the address book.

Thanks

Not an Outlook issue. The Outlook Address Book should only contain
electronic addresses. However, synchronization software does not synchronize
with the Address Book. It should be synchronizing with your Contacts Folder.

Thanks for clarifying it for me, it makes perfect sense.
