Outlook should let me modify the unsafe attachment lists

After installing the outlook 2000 email security patch, I cannot save certain
attachments from emails to my hard disk. This COULD be a useful feature IF we
were allowed to choose the extensions, without having to run an exchange
server.

I think that the exchange server modification idea is good for companies,
but it makes sending files a lot harder for the home user who doesnt have an
email server. Use exchange for the enterprise version and let outlook manage
its own list on stand-alone home computers.

True enough - best solution at this point is to upgrade to Outlook 2003
which gives you more options for control.

I am running Outlook 2002 and I have the same exact problem. This option is
fine for normal end-users, but as a Systems Administrator and Developer I am
constintly sending and receiving "unsafe" attachments!

As a side question, what moron in Microsoft came up with this idea?

Right now I am forced to stop using Outlook all together since I refuse to
keep renaming my files just so I can send them! And I will not spend the
money on an upgrade until I am sure that it will not have the same problem!

I have looked throughout the Technet site and I can find nothing that says
Outlook 2003 eliminates this microsoft bug/feature!

Why should we shell out more money for an upgrade because Microsoft was
short-sighted in thier zeal to "protect" us? This is the mindset that drives
people to seriously consider open-source options. Provide protection but
allow the customer to choose the granularity of the functionality.
