Outlook should allow an option to include or exclude fax numbers .

I would like to be able to exclude fax number addresses from the select name
dialogue when addressing an email.

The only way to do this is to either put the fax number into another field
(like Callback) or to change the fax numbers to have a letter F or the word
FAX before them. Outlook sees fax numbers as valid electronic addresses so
there's not much you can do to remove them.

I understand that Outlook sees them as valid addresses and if I was sending
faxes, I would appreciate that. What I think I'm suggesting is a filter
option to only display SMTP addresses or filter out FAX addresses etc..

I agree with you. Unfortunately Microsoft hasn't implemented that.

Not a change. The Outlook Address Book has always behaved this way.

Maybe I should be more specific
Comparing IMO setups, both XP, but one OL2000 and one (recently
upgraded to) OL2003. Both are "show names" from Contacts. 2000
doesn't show Fax entries, but 2003 does. What am I missing?

Sorry to be so dense, but this is one of my few disappointments after
upgrading to 2003..... I don't fax

I explained this in the reply to your other post. IMO does not use the
Outlook Address Book. It uses the Windows Address Book engine and your
Contacts Folder as the data source. There is no IMO mode in Outlook 2003, by
the way. Only in Outlook 98 and 2000.
