I'm getting the following error when testing my email:
"The specified server was found but there was no response from the server.
Please verify that the port and ssl information is correct. To access these
settings close the dialog then click more settings and click on the advance
tab."
I don't know what to look for. And I verified all the settings but is the
SMTP: msn.com?

If you have an MSN acct, check their help files for the proper way to
configure it - I don't think they offer SMTP, except to a few very old acct
holders.

Both, I just went to work for a comany and they set me up with an email
address. Also, I would like to set up my MSN and Hotmail accounts as well.
Thank you,
Danny Mac

For MSN and Hotmail, I believe you need to be using premium or paid accounts
to be able to pull them to Outlook.
As for your work email account, didn't their IT set it up for you? Are you
trying to pull work email from home instead of at work? Do you know what type
of mail account it is, POP or Exchange?

Ok, please realize, I can handle word and excel but everything else, I'm an
idiot, so please bear with me!
In the Internet E-mail settings in the mail file in control panel, the user
info is right, the password is correct, the POP3 is currect, not sure about
the SMTP, I put in msn.com.
When I run the "test account settings", everything confiems but the "send
the email test message". That''s when i get that error I first talked about.
Thanks,
Danny

MSN doesn't support POP mail.

Brian, I am trying to set up an email account my company has supplied me
with. It is not MSN. I'm trying to set it up in Outlook but the "test send
message" error is the only one in mail that rejects (fails)!
Thanks,
Danny

Perhaps, then, I'm confused why you said:

If you're trying to set up an account given you by your work, your best
resource is the IT department where you work. They should be able to supply
you with all the settings yyou need and help you discover why the ones
you've set don't work.
