Outlook selecting deleted name

When typing names, outlook often offers among its
selections names long deleted from my address book, which
is both irksome and somewhat dangerous. I cannot find
where Outlook is coming up with address--it is nowhere in
the address book and searches of the entire hard drive
don't find it.
Any ideas on where these names are coming from and how to
eliminate them once and for all?

Remove individual addresses from the autocompletion cache by highlighting
the entry when presented in the suggested names list (use your arrow key to
migrate to the entry) and then hitting your Delete key before you tab out of
the field. To clear the entire cache, follow the instructions here:
