Greetings.

I recently decided to use Outlook 2002 (XP) instead of
Outlook Express. I am trying to set up a rule whereby I
reply to a specific e-mail by sending a reply that is a
txt file. In Outlook Express this was no problem. But in
Outlook 2002 the only option I can find is as follows:

"reply using a specific template"

Could someone please help me figure out how to set up a
rule whereby I will be able to reply to a specific e-mail
with a txt file? I would deeply appreciate your help.

Regards,
Rebecca

I have visited the link you suggested, but all I can find
is a multitude of confusing links to various Microsoft
pages that are of no help whatsover. All I want to do is
set up an automatic reply. It was very simple in Outlook
Express. But thanks anyway for your trouble. I guess I
will have to find the answer to this problem elsewhere.

You can't reply with a text file. You need to create an
Outlook template. See
http://www.slipstick.com/rules/autoreply.htm for details.

Outlook Express, as you may have gathered by now, is an entirely different
product (despite the confusingly similar name).

The answer to your question is on the page Sue suggested. Here it is a
little closer: http://www.slipstick.com/rules/autoreply.htm#otherrw

Read and apply the instructions in the Other Outlook Configurations with
Rules Wizard section and you'll have a rule that replies with a specific
message (tho not a text file) to a received message.
