I use Outlook to access my Hotmails. I am not able to
get any attachments because Outlook displays this message:

"OE removed access to the following unsafe attachments in
your email"

How do I configure Outlook to receive all attachments?

Thanks

Make sure Outlook isn't running, and choose Start | Run.
Enter Regedit, choose OK, and in Regedit, navigate to
HKEY_ CURRENT_USER\Software\ Microsoft\Office\10.0
\Outlook\ Security. Then choose Edit | New | String Value
and name it Level1Remove. Right-click on Level1Remove,
choose Modify, and for its value enter the list of
extensions you want to allow, using semicolons to
separate the items.
For example, type "exe;mdb;vbs" to allow .exe, .mdb,
and .vbs attachments, respectfully.

Close Regedit and you're done. Outlook will stop blocking
files with the extensions on the list.

Hope that helps

That may be a good solution for Outlook, but it isn't for Outlook Express,
which the poster is apparently using.
Tim,
This is a group to support Outlook from the Office group of programs.
Outlook Express is a part of Internet Explorer and is a quite different
program, despite its similar name..

You will probably get a faster and more expert answer if you post this to an
Outlook Express news group.

Try posting in one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x
microsoft.public.internet.outlookexpress.mac for OE for Macintosh

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups).

A good website for information on OE is:

Tim,

I am having a similar problem receiving my attachments.
Did you ever find out how to configure Outlook to receive
all of yours? If so, it my correct my problem also. I
would appreciate any help that you could send me about
this issue.

Thanks,
Linda

It's a new security feature in Outlook. Here's a tool that I use that
allows me to save/open them if you want to check it out.

An alternative is to have the sender change the name of the file to
filename.ex_ for an exe file before they send it. Then you save the file to
your disk and rename it back to filename.exe and run it.

Another alternative is have the sender zip the file before they send it.

Be warned though that that feature was added for a reason, and bypassing it
reduces your security significantly! Use at your own Risk.
