outlook reinstall

Running Office 2003, did the office updates and had some excel issues. Did a
detect and repair and it reset all the suites to defaults. I had to setup
Outlook profile again. I can see the fold with data. i think the name of
the file is outlook1.pst. I can not make this the default folder. Tried a
few things and got frustrated. I am sure it is simple; but I can not seem to
get this right.
any help would be appreciated.
 
What are the things you tried that did not work?

And what did you try to make outlook1.pst the default file? How many files
are listed in File | Data File Management?
