I am working on Active Directory. Some of my client PC's have the
outlook.pst file in their user folder on the server. When the client syncs
with the server the .pst file shows it is not available offline. What is the
best way to handle this? I don't need this box to pop up when logging off.
Thank you.

1. MS does not support storing/accessing PST files on a network drive. It
will invariably lead to problems - performance, and possible/likely
corruption. Exchange might be a better option for you - no PST files needed
(or desirable).
2. For offline file usage, I don't like the native offline files feature
(for this and other reasons) - check out www.centered.com for a third party
alternative that doesn't care about file types - just cares whether the
files are in use or not.
3. If clients are working on the LAN, why do you need offline files/syncing
enabled at all?

There is a LAN/WAN. I have several people using laptops. I found a
microsoft article that told how to get around the .pst problem. In GP go to
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Network\Offline Files\Files
not cached and enable that policy and put *.slm;*.mdb;*.ldb;*.mdw;*.mde;*.db?
in the Extensions box and that will preserve all the exluded offline files
except *.pst. I did that and it seems to work on my 2000 clients but not my
XP clients. Any suggestions?

No idea. As I said, I don't use Offline Files. Might want to post in an XP
group.
