I've hit problems with my outlook.pst. Last week I traced the Inbox Repair
Tool and successfully repaired it. A few days later it again showed error
messages
(Could not open the folders [for] email messages, etc) but now (and I've
tried several times) the Inbox Repair Tool itself reports an Error (at stage
4, or was it 5, of 8).

I've created a new set of Personal Folders so am able to use Outlook (2000),
but I'm desperate to access all my past emails, my tasks and contacts. Some
I have as past backups; and the files are all there so I can try to extract
the details, as text or whatever can be done.

Suggestions very gratefully received

What size is your old (failed) pst?

Within Outlook you can open your Archive files or backups (if they are
copies of a pst, or created using the backup addin), ie Within Outlook,
File>Open>Personal Folders........browse to the file

Thanks for this. File is large - I'll check it out. I'm working on it -
please don't take apparent silence as lack of appreciation!

Got there! Found and downloaded (for $50) the Outlook Recovery Toolbox,
which has saved my bacon.
Thankyou for your interest.

Presumably you are aware an outlook 2k pst file has a size limitation of
2gb, allthough problems can occur from 1.6gb?

I am now! (I'm sure I posted this response some days ago, but it seems to
have got lost).

I still have some problems arising, but I'll keep trying, thanks.
