Stupid me I applied a password on one of my Outlook2000 personal folder(pst)
about 7 months ago and apparently set the 'remember me' option. I moved
this pst file over to another machine about a week ago then reloaded the OS.
But when I try and open the pst on the new machine Outlook prompts me for
the pst password. which unfortunately I don't remember. I tried putting
the file back over to the original machine but I guess when I reloaded the
OS it wiped out the 'remember me' password.

I really need to access this pst to recover my contact list and family
emails. Any ideals would be greatly be appreciated.

Thanks

Do a search on Google. There is quite a few utilities.

As far as I know the only way to break to password is by
bruteforce, which means it will try every password
randomly. If you have an idea what the password could be,
or if it is an actual word, you can load a dictionary into
the program. I hope you have a fast PC. It can take long.

Actually I found this. Apparently it works perfectly:

Tool Name 15/11/2000
Outlook PST Password stripper

Details
This utility was originally designed to upgrade the PST
format to version 19. One of its side effects, however, is
that it can strip out the PST password. This can therefore
be used to recover passwords you may have forgotten on
your PST files.

Hi g.e,

Yes, there are many tools available that can easily find the password
in an Outlook PST file for about fourty dollars. Try a search on
google.

Or you could just use a password recovery service:

http://www.intertek.org.uk/services/

N.B. Please do not crack any password unless you are fully authorised
to access the file.

C.B.
