I ran scanpst after getting your msg below.
It reported and then fixed two errors. However, the result was that then
the recovered personal folders were all blank. The pst file itself is
still
995MB large but none of my messages ( nor any of the unique sort folders
I'd
created) seem to have been recovered.
I'm glad scanpst made a bak file first.

If they are located on a second drive, and they were created with the
same
version of Outlook, if within OL you do a file>Open and receive this err
msg
then it would appear your data files were corrupted during the previous
PC
crash.
If you run scanpst.exe on this data file does it report anything?
They are the original data files that were on my D rather than C drive
in
the
original system.
I have tried 1. to import from them. 2. to simply replace the new
Outlook.pst (created when I opened Outlook the first time) while
outlook
was
closed of course. 3. Tried to open it as a second pst from within
outlook.
:
How are you trying to connect your data files to Outlook?
Were the data files on this drive backups, if so how were they
created,
or
are they the origonal data files conected to the old Outlook?
Sorry to disappoint. It is Office XP. Same disc/ license used on
both
the
old system before crash and the new system. The OS in both cases is
XPPro

Same Outlook version? No way.
Try posting again, with accurate information.
This message only arises when you are using a newer data file with
an
older
version of Outlook.

which
is accessible to new system. Same version of office on new and
old
system,
yet get the message that Outlook.pst is not compatible with this
version
of
the Personal Folders information service.
I have 10 years worth of folders and email records here that I
