Outlook properties "show total number of items"

In Outlook you can set each folder's properties to "Show Unread items" or
"Show total number of items". The problem is the default is "Unread", if I
want to change all of my folders to "total number of items", I have to change
it every time. Seems like there would be a way to set the default to
"total...item" or a way to run a macro to set all folders. Unread is nice,
if you have 50 + folders.....
Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks,

Dan

Dan,
I was able to go into the properties of all of my folders and choose "Show
total number of items" then I clicked on Apply then OK. I closed and
reopened my Outlook several times and it stayed the way I had set it. You
may have a different problem going on. Try typing outlook.exe /safe in the
Run window to open Outlook then set it and try reopen it to see if it
stayed.

If I have misunderstood this problem, let me know.

Good luck,

audeyt,

I guess my description was confusing. Sometimes it is hard to describe this
stuff in detail. What I want to do is go to a main folder that has several
sub-folders in it and set all folders and subs at one time. For example if
I have a set folders called colors and under colors I have sub-folders called
red, blue, orange, etc., I don't like going to each one and setting the
properties of each to "total number...". I would like to set the main folder
and all the subs be set also. This probably does not work unless someone has
written a macro to do this. Thanks for responding.

I understand now. Unfortunately you are correctly, the is no way of turning
it on at the parent folder level and the sub-folders be turned on as well.
