Outlook Processes do not end

On occassion, my XP Pro/SP2 process menu shows Outlook process still active
even though I've shut down Outlook hours ago. I use Word as my editor and it
will also show open, even though I closed that properly. It doesn't happen
all the time, only sparingly, but when it does happen, I have to reboot my
computer because I can load Outlook but it won't send/receive. This happened
before SP2 and occassionally continues to happen.

Any ideas? Has this happened to you?

ActiveSync installed? Is the PDA in the cradle/on when Outlook shuts down?

Any 3rd party Fax software installed like WinFax? (WinFax is not compatible
with Outlook 2003)

We see that one a lot - the user closes Outlook, and there is no task
icon to show that it's running, but AS keeps it open in the background,
and that's why it doesn't ask for which profile you want when you have
more than one.

I wish that AS would release Outlook when you close it and manual sync
is enabled.

I got rid of my Palm and uninstalled the software. AS probably is still
installed somewhere, I gather...
