Anyone here get it to install on O2k3? I tried but it says I don't
outlook2000 installed - that I have to install it first. Is there a
registry trick or something to make this program think I have O2k and if I
do it did you get it to work with o2k3?

Thanks

Start at the beginning. You've told us nothing. What are you doing? What
dose it have to do with Pocket Contact Sync? What does it have to do with
Contacts?

I'm running BCM - it really sucks if you want to view contacts in exchane
OWA or if you want to sync your contacts with WM5 since it stores the
contacts in a seperate location. My goal is to be able to view my basic
contact info via OWA or my WM5 device. In order for ActiveSync to sync my
bcm contact info I will need the contact info from Business Contact Manager
(minus the activities) synced to my regular outlook contacts then it will be
viewable with OWA and WM5. So I need a utility to sync the BCM info with my
regular outlook contacts. I was going to use Outlook Pocket Contact Sync to
get that the info I need in a folder I can use. I have not actually used
this program since I have Outlook2003 but it might do what I need it to as
long as it does not duplicate contacts and can sync at least once a day.

You have managed to obscure any semblance to a clear question. Moreover, if
there is any connection between your first post and your second, it eludes
me completely. Good luck to you.

Likewise - I have no idea where your line of questioning is going.

Start at the beginning. You've told us nothing. What are you doing?

I'm sitting at my computer trying to install Outlook Pocket Sync on my
computer. I am running Windows XP SP2 with all the patches. I am running
Outlook2003 Pro with all the patches/sp.

What dose it have to do with Pocket Contact Sync? What does WHAT have to
do with PCS?
What does it have to do with Contacts? The purpose of PCS is to sync
contacts that is explained in my second post.

It was stated in the post above by Sue that some have gotten it to work with
Outlook2003. Since I cannot get it to install as I do not have Outlook2000,
I was wondering if anyone here has the trick to installing it without
Outlook 2000. My question as posed in my original post - Has anyone gotten
it to install with Outlook 2003 and if so - what is necessary to get it to
install? Is that clear?

I think I see now. You never clarified what you were trying to install. Are
you asking about Pocket Contact Synchronizer version 1.2? The product that
says specifically in its documentation that it is designed only for Outlook
2000 and 2002?
Any reason you don't use the one designed for Outlook 2003 with BCM?

Ahh - I'll be a little more specific. I am running BCM v2 (the patched
version for Outlook2003). I cannnot find any utilites in it to sync my BCM
contacts with my regular outlook contacts. Since I cannot do this, it means
I cannot view any of the contacts I've created in BCM in OWA on my exchange
server (exchange 2k3). WM5 only syncs the contacts with the regular outlook
contacts folder. So BCM while giving me timestamps for my outlook notes and
a few other features limits my access to data on the road. If their was a
sync utility that ran on a regular basis that synced that data between my
BCM contacts and my regular contacts folder on a regular basis, I could use
BCM in my environment. The version of PCS I have found will not run on
Outlook2003.

Do you have a link for Outlook Pocket Contact Sync that works with
Outlook2003? If you know of a way to make 1.2 for outlook 2000 work with
2003 that would be helpful. Sue the MVP who responded to my request for a
Utility to Sync Contacts between two sources stated she believed it could be
done.

people are looking for a group called Business contact manager or looking

Unfortunately, no. The only groups I know that deal with synchronization
deal with mobile OS specific issues like ActivSync or Palm's HotSync. I only
know they aren't dealt with here, so I'm afraid you'll get little traffic
here as well. Wouldn't the Exchange groups be more likely to deal with this?
Your setup is one I've never seen in these groups.

BCM contacts with my regular outlook contacts. Since I cannot do this,
it means I cannot view any of the contacts I've created in BCM in OWA on
my exchange server (exchange 2k3). WM5 only syncs the contacts with the
regular outlook contacts folder. So BCM while giving me timestamps for
my outlook notes and a few other features limits my access to data on
the road. If their was a sync utility that ran on a regular basis that
synced that data between my BCM contacts and my regular contacts folder
on a regular basis, I could use BCM in my environment. The version of
PCS I have found will not run on Outlook2003.

Do you have a link for Outlook Pocket Contact Sync that works with
Outlook2003? If you know of a way to make 1.2 for outlook 2000 work
with 2003 that would be helpful. Sue the MVP who responded to my
request for a Utility to Sync Contacts between two sources stated she
believed it could be done.

Sorry - it was in the subject of my first post. I didn't know there
was one for Outlook2003 - can you send me the link?

I think I see now. You never clarified what you were trying to
install. Are you asking about Pocket Contact Synchronizer version 1.2?
The product that says specifically in its documentation that it is
designed only for Outlook 2000 and 2002?
Any reason you don't use the one designed for Outlook 2003 with BCM?

Likewise - I have no idea where your line of questioning is going.

Start at the beginning. You've told us nothing. What are you doing?

I'm sitting at my computer trying to install Outlook Pocket Sync on
my computer. I am running Windows XP SP2 with all the patches. I
am running Outlook2003 Pro with all the patches/sp.

What dose it have to do with Pocket Contact Sync? What does WHAT
have to do with PCS?
What does it have to do with Contacts? The purpose of PCS is to
sync contacts that is explained in my second post.

It was stated in the post above by Sue that some have gotten it to
work with Outlook2003. Since I cannot get it to install as I do not
have Outlook2000, I was wondering if anyone here has the trick to
installing it without Outlook 2000. My question as posed in my
original post - Has anyone gotten it to install with Outlook 2003
and if so - what is necessary to get it to install? Is that clear?

You have managed to obscure any semblance to a clear question.
Moreover, if there is any connection between your first post and
your second, it eludes me completely. Good luck to you.

I'm running BCM - it really sucks if you want to view contacts in
exchane OWA or if you want to sync your contacts with WM5 since it
stores the contacts in a seperate location. My goal is to be able
to view my basic contact info via OWA or my WM5 device. In order
for ActiveSync to sync my bcm contact info I will need the contact
info from Business Contact Manager (minus the activities) synced
to my regular outlook contacts then it will be viewable with OWA
and WM5. So I need a utility to sync the BCM info with my regular
outlook contacts. I was going to use Outlook Pocket Contact Sync
to get that the info I need in a folder I can use. I have not
actually used this program since I have Outlook2003 but it might
do what I need it to as long as it does not duplicate contacts and
can sync at least once a day.

message Start at the beginning. You've told us nothing. What are you
doing? What dose it have to do with Pocket Contact Sync? What
does it have to do with Contacts?

Anyone here get it to install on O2k3? I tried but it says I
don't outlook2000 installed - that I have to install it first.
Is there a registry trick or something to make this program
think I have O2k and if I do it did you get it to work with
o2k3?

Thanks

Solution from RAJ:

1.. Open the Registry - Click Start -> Run and type:

regedit

2.. Browse to the following location. You wouldn't have the keys after
"Office", therefore you will need to add them.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Common\InstallRoot

And add a String Value under this Key called "Path" with its Value data
reading as "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\"

If you are not comfortable doing the registry editing yourself, download
the registry file and execute it. This will add the required entries.

3.. Run the Add-in Setup again and you should be able to install Outlook
PCS on your computer without any problems.
