In my personal folder there has been generated another
folder called outlook today.

In this folder there is another personal folder which has
the same contents as the original personal folder.

I have rebooted and used the repair facility but they both
remain.

Can I remove the Microsoft programme using the office disk
and retain all my data folders, address book and mail
accounts as I have about 20.

At the moment some mails go into one of the personal
folders and some into the the other.

I would really appreciate some help on this.

As you look at the personal folder display there are two
inboxes all with the same folders.

Help,

Advice appreciated.

(this is outlook and not express)

This won't solve your problem. You'll need to recreate your mail profile;
Control Panel-> Mail-> button Show Pofiles

All that does is to show the mail accounts,,, there is no
show profile in the Control panel>mail> (its mail
accounts)?

Please keep trying

You probably are in IMO mode then. If you change to Corporate Workgroup mode
Outlook will let you create different profiles.

The problem could also be resolved by editing the registry but this could
lead to even more problems. Therefor I suggest you change the mode Outlook
is running in.

I cannot find any reference to cmo or corporate work group
mode.

At this point it is appearing to me as if I shall have to
remove the programme with the cd facility,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I can save .pst to a specific location so that its not
destroyed,,, however,, its rare to have to delve into
outlook like this, and if you do so once every two years
you forget what's what when you look again,,, so many
other things to do.

However,,, please tell me if I have this correct,,,,

I shall archive all inbox files to a location of my
choosing so that I can collect them again when the
software is rebooted. I will also copy them to another
drive which I use for backup and copy safety. I shall try
and archive the address book also, any hints there!

Trying to locate the outlook files with search is a
problem because the names they have when you are using the
programme as an operator or user, are not always those
that will show in a search,,,,, finding the folder and
removing the link with explorer is not simple, I wish it
were. I would go in and perform surgery.

Outlook is not a programme that lends itself to correction
unless you are an expert or near as such in that part of
outlook.
If there is any way I can remove this,,, what I see as a
duplicate inbox and its sub boxes I would do so,, so I am
back to that point.

You are using Outlook 2000?
Go to Tools-Options-Mail Delivery and click on "Reconfigure Mail Support" at
the bottom of the box.....
