Outlook password problem

I am using Microsoft Outlook at work and had Outlook
password-protected (outlook.pst). This weekend, our
computers were transferred over to a new server. Now
Outlook opens with my contacts and e-mails, then prompts
me to enter my password a few moments later. Because my
entire computer will be password-protected a week from
now, I don't even need an Outlook password. However, I
can't seem to remove it. I followed the directions on
some posts on this site, but they didn't conform to my
computer. For example, one suggestion regards
a "password to open" dialog box, which I never see.
Another tells me to go to my personal folders, which
doesn't exist on my computer. The prompt is driving me
nuts and I would just like to remove it. Does anyone
know how to remove the password?

There is a handy tool to strip the password of a pst-file. The funny thing
is that this tool wasn't even written for stripping the password of a
pst-file but for upgrading the pst-file to a newer format. Stripping the
password was just a (handy) side effect. Don't use this tool for any illegal
activities!!!

Read the pstread.txt file included in the zip before using the utility!

Does this also work with Outlook Express 6? OE6 seems
to "forget" passwords and I haven't been able to do
anything about it.

Hi Roady,

The directions for pst19upg.exe says:
1. Run: pst19upg x fielname.pst
2. Run: pst19upg -i filename.psx"

How do you "run" this? I tried the run window off the
start menu and also a "run" command in the command prompt
window but neither worked. The former just causes a
slight flash on the screen but no psx file is created, and
the latter says there's no such command.

Also, can outlook read a psx file? If not, is there a way
to convert the psx back to a pst? (Import, maybe?)

Do you know anything about Outlook Key by
LostPassword.com? Are they reliable/legit, etc?

Thank you for your help.

The easiest way to do this is to place the pst19upg.exe file in the same
directory as the pst-file. This way you won't have to specify paths to the
files.

Here is the log of my command screen as an example. My personal folder is
called persoonlijke mappen.pst as I'm on a Dutch Office at the moment and
didn't felt like renaming it :-)

----------------begin---------------
H:\>cd D:\My Documents\My Desktop

H:\>d:

D:\My Documents\My Desktop>pst19upg.exe -x "Persoonlijke mappen.pst"

Exporting: Persoonlijke mappen.pst (version 19)
to: Persoonlijke mappen.psx

Exported 4 folders and 0 messages in 0 seconds

D:\My Documents\My Desktop>pst19upg.exe -i "Persoonlijke mappen.psx"

Importing: Persoonlijke mappen.pst (version 19)
from: Persoonlijke mappen.psx

(Renamed existing file Persoonlijke mappen.pst to Persoonlijke mappen.bak)

Imported 4 folders and 0 messages in 0 seconds

D:\My Documents\My Desktop>

----------------end---------------------
Hope this helps!
