Outlook Office 2000 to XP

I've been wanting to install xp for a while, but I have no clue how to
xport my old outlook files/emails onto my system after I've
re-installed the new version.

I have been reading a lot on people who are asking the same questions,
but the references are all to outlook 5 or 6 express. Because I only
have office 2000, will this pose a problem on xp? Would it be as easy
as saving the pst file and just importing it into the new outlook?

What version of MS Outlook are you referring to?

The best place to ask would be in one of the Outlook or Office
newsgroups.

If you don't want to manually setup the email connnection again, you can
save this as an *.iaf file, just as in OE. If you're using OE's newsreader
either through OE itself, or backdooring from Outlook, you can also save the
news server(s) connections in *.iaf file format.

Outlook 2K has an addon for backing up what folders you select from
contacts, email, calendar etc. within Outlook's folders while Outlook is
open. If you choose the root personal folder, all will be saved. During
installation of this add-on, it offers to intermittently backup your
selections on a regular time period basis that you choose. All to a pst
file format to a location of your liking. Saving to external media or
separate media is best, not the local hard drive. During restore process,
restore FROM the pst file to its source original location in outlook 2K.
Open outlook 2K, use the file- import/export selection, select import, roll
down to pst file for restoration.

Above is bit more tedious than that, but that's it in a nutshell.

Check the MS update site for Outlook and choose 2K version to find the
add-on I spoke of.
 
I'm currently using Microsoft outlook 2000 - office edition (but it also
says "internet only")...

Not sure what that has to do with my previous response. I use Outlook 2K
strictly with internet connected email server. Not a LAN email server.

old computer) as a *pst file, but OE 6 (new computer XP) does no
recognize it at all; but gives me options (other file extensions) tha
OE 2000 (old computer) does not recognize.

I've managed to restore archived files before (via the *pst files) bu
it was always with Win98, not on X

Am not speaking of saving with Outlook itself, which saves an archive pst
file if you choose that. No add-on is required for that. I've avoided the
default pst of Outlook and any archives because of restoration problems I've
always had with them in the past, especially in 98SE environment.

OE - Outlook Express - is not considered Outlook. No matter what numbers
are on the end of it.

Office 2000 is a group of MS applications which also includes Outlook 2000.

OE (Outlook Express) is provided by MS as part of both XP and 98 operating
systems. 98's is an older version. XP's is newer, and has been upgraded
since by online updates.

If you mean "Outlook Express", feel free to reinput your cry for help under
a new post.
