Outlook much slower than Outlook Express

We have used Outlook 97, 2000, 2002 and currently have Outlook XP on one
machine. Outlook Express is much faster at downloading e-mail for us despite
using the same Norton programs. Is there anyway to speed Outlook up?
 
Don't know if this will help, but you might try disabling the Instant
Messenger integration in Tools | Options | Other.
