Outlook locks up

Today, Outlook 2003 developed a problem that locks the program up..When accessing a file folder or sending and receiving, the hard disk just continously runs and does not stop...Then I have to reboot..I tried sending a message with a power point attachement and the disk drive never stopped running until I terminated outlook, then I was told that outlook did send 4 copies of the message to the reciepeint...

I did run virus scan and scanpst, but this did not help..

Any ideas..?
