outlook keep timing

I am trying to add a new account to outlook 2007, however, it keeps timing
out when while trying to contact the sender (smpt) server. I am trying to use
gmail. Thanks in advance

Make sure that pop is enabled in Gmail. If you haven't enabled it,
then such things are bound to fail
Look under Settings, Forwarding and Pop
