I have noticed that, because of the set up of our company
systems, most of the valid e-mails I receive contain a
specific character string in the 'From' field, none of the
spam I get has this. I would like to add an entry into
the junk mail section of the filter.txt field says "From
does NOT contain 'xyz'".

Is this possible?
Where can I find a list of the valid keyword codeings for
use in the Filter.txt file ?

Hello,

Thank you for your post!

Actually, the list of terms that are used to filter junk or adult content
e-mail messages is documented in the Filters.txt file. We can read this
file with any text editor. However, any changes that we make to it do not
affect the internal list of terms.

In this issue, we can filter the junk e-mails by customizing an Outlook
rule. For example, we can choose "Start from a blank rule" to customize a
new rule. In the "Select Conditions" step of "Rules Wizard", do not choose
any check box (this makes the rule apply to every message). In the "Select
Action(s)" step of "Rules Wizard", we can move the e-mails to a certain
folder which is used to hold junk e-mails. The key to the rule creation is
the "Select Exactions" step. We can select the "except with specific words
in the sender's address" check box to ensure that the rule will not apply
to the e-mails which contain a specific string (for example, "XYZ") in the
"From" field.

I hope the above information helps. If anything is unclear, please let me
know. It is my pleasure to be of assistance.

Thank you, and have a great day!

Dear Joe

Thanks for your reply.

One does need to ask why, if editing the Filters.txt file
has no effect on spam detection, the MS Outlook Help
system instructs people to edit it !

Netscape allows single mouse click addition to the junk mail filter. It works great. Can we do this in outlook2000 or above?
