Outlook is really getting on my nerves..

I would like to know what to do for Outlook Express NOT to display the contents of an email solely for highlighting the mail´s header
I´ve tried going to Tools->Options->Read> Automaticaly...

But it keeps happening... what am I doing wrong

Your question would likely get a better resonse if posted on an Outlook
Express group rather than a networking group.

I don't use OE but is there a "preview" option in the configuration that
can be disabled?

Had the same problem after I downloaded all the security
updates from MS. I now use my hotmail address to recieve
images and e-mails with images attached. annoying but was
a faster solution than reloading without the security
updates.
 
Try going to view>Layout>and take out the check mark in show preview pane.
Then you have to double click the header to view the email.
