Outlook is currently indexing your items

Hi,
During Search, I receive the message "Outlook is currently indexing your
items" and the item is not found. I know the item is there.
Any ideas?

It is about 18,000 which is much higher than it was yesterday or last week.

have you considered using a third party software to search through
outlook. that was my solution, cause i was having the same problems
like you before and couldn't OL make it work properly... so a little
research effort gave me Lookeen (www.lookeen.net). i can totally
recommend it and you won't be bother with error messages anymore :)
