HW/SW: I am using WinXP Pro SP2, Outlook 2000 sp3, Internet Explorer 6, a
Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop with ethernet, wireless capability remotely, and a
wired network at home.

Currently: Using a dial-up connection to my ISP (ATT.net), my emails
download directly into my Outlook’s Inbox (and I assume they are
automatically removed from the ISP’s server). This happens whether I
dial-up from home or away.

Question 1: If I use a DSL connection, will my emails download directly into
my Outlook Inbox when accessing from home?

Question 2: When I use a wireless connection away, say at a hotel, how can I
get my emails to download directly to my Outlook Inbox? I can do this with
dial-up, but can i do it with DSL at home and wireless at a hotel?

Question #3: If not, is there a way to get my emails into my Inbox without
reverting back to dial-up?

Question #4: Currently I am using ATT.net dial-up, but am considering
switching to Qwest DSL. I could keep ATT as my ISP, or change to Qwest or
MSN, but I am assuming your answers are the same regardless of the ISP I use.
Correct?

They do for me. Outlook doesn't really care how you connect to the
Internet.

Sure.

Not required.

Configure the account properly and it doesn't matter who supplies your
Internet connection.

community.

I am still unclear on one aspect, however. How do I configure my Outlook to

high-speed wireless internet connection at a hotel? When I use dial-up,
whether away or at home, the emails automatically download into my Inbox, but
I cannot figure out how to do the same using wireless at a hotel. I have
been told that I must use dial-up to get the emails into my computer’s
Outlook Inbox but you seem to say that is not the case.

Outlook does not care how you're connected to the Internet. If you're
referencing the correct server using the correct credentials, then the
remainder of the settings, like your send/receive settings, should operate
identically.
