I'm trying to retrieve info (addresses, e-mails, etc.)
from an older version on outlook and import it into my
new Version6 in XP. Everytime I call up the old file,
which is stored on an external drive, Xp converts it to
the current Outlook program and I can't get any old info.
Any ideas?
Thanks

PST files can be protected with a password. But it would
normally prompt for that when trying to the access the file.
Instead of Importing the data, you might want to just add
it as another data store and access the contents directly.
From Outlook, click Tools, Options, Mail Setup, Data
Files, Add - Then browse to the Old file. ( I would suggest
you copy it from the removable drive to your hard-drive
1st.). Then see if you can access the data, if so you can
copy/move the contents to your latest Personal folder.

Outlook (OL) or Outlook Express (OE)? OE has a version 6 but not OL.

If you're trying to import an OL PST file into OE on the new machine, you
can't do that.
