I have the "Hide When Minimized" option selected on the Outlook icon in the
system tray. When I minimize Outlook, the icon at some point disappears
from the system tray. No, it is not in the "Hide inactive icons list." It
is not anywhere in the system tray. Using process explorer, Outlook is
running. The only way I can get back to Outlook is to launch another
instance.
I came across one solution to bring back missing icons in the system tray by
clearing the values IconStreams and PastIconStream located at
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\TrayNotify
but I do not like using such brute force tactics in the registry.
