Steven

I was hoping someone could help me with an Outlook issue.
I currently have a POP 3 e mail address, and download my
messages onto outlook, while leaving a copy of each e
mail on the main server. The messages are only taken off
the server when I choose to delete the messages from the
deleted message folder, i.e. getting rid of the message
totally.

My question is: Is there any way to make an automatic
backup of each message that I download for future
reference, without having to edit copy - edit paste -
everytime before deleting the messages from the deleted
folder?

Thanks very much for your help.

For Outlook Express (different product than Outlook), consider using a
Message Rule:
Condition: "For all messages"
Action: "Copy it to a Specified Folder"
Description: specify the folder. Call it "backup"
Name of Rule: Backup all mail

Outlook is different from Outlook Express. I presume you mean what you
said: Outlook. I believe that recent versions of Outlook also have
message rules. I don't use Outlook any more to check for you.

Yes, Outlook aslo has the ability to filter where mail
goes/is handled via Rules. (In Outlook go to Tools -
Rules Wizard.) I believe that the difference (between
Outlook and Express) is that in Outlook, if you're
connected to an Exchange server, you have an option to
use either your personal (client) rules, or any existing
rules on the server.
