One thing I find of frustration in a lot of MS products is how frustrating
and time wasting goes on when trying to find the correct answer to my
queries. For example, I was in Outlooks Calendar page and I wanted to change
the way the week was displayed. It was starting at its default of Monday, but
I wanted to see Sunday as the first day. I wrote in the "Answer Wizard"
"Change the calendar starting day from Monday to Sunday". The answers or
selections I got back were:
1. Print a calendar
2. Add or remove holidays in your Calendar
3. Schedule a meeting
After checking these out for any information within what first of all looks
like they'de have nothing to do with what I was looking for (and being proven
correct), I then went to the "Search on Web" button. This proved much more
helpful after deciphering where to start!! The answer was as follows (Copy &
Pasted)
*"By default, in Calendar, when you click Work Week, the calendar displays
*Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. To select which days
*comprise your work week and to select the first day of each work week, do
the *following:

*On the Tools menu, click Options.
*Click Calendar Options.
*Select the check boxes next to the days of the week that you want included
in *your work week.
*In the First day of week box, click the day that you want.
So I went to the "Tools" menu on the Calendar page I started from -
problem!!! No "Options" option. So I looked in all the other drop down menus
- nothing there. Looked around the page and found an "Options" button just
above the 2 month calendar display (far right sde next to the "X" close).
This had in it:
Search all Tex in each Message and
Advanced Find Cntl+Shift+F
Again nothing similar to what had been suggested.
Now as far as I was concerned, I was where I should be - in the Calendar
page to change an option on that page and I eventually found an "Options"
selection.
After no success here, I went back to the "New Appointment" page, then onto
other pages (Task then back to appointment) that I thought may relate
directly to altering daily information on the calendar before trying the main
page. Of course this is where I found the appropriate "Options" in the
"Tools" menu.
All this time and energy not to mention frustration could have been avoided
if words to the effect of "On the Home page" or "On the Main page" or other
words to that effect could be placed in the 1st point in the "Help" answer to
direct people to the correct starting place.
This is definitely not the first time I have had problems using a Microsoft
Help menu.
I just hope one day that Microsoft managers wake up to themselves and relise
that they have to make understanding of their software and ease of help are
the key to ongoing success - a lot of people are switching to either Apple
computers or Linux based operating systems because of frustrations similar to
above and reliability.
I for one have wasted too much time and lost a lot of work due soley to
problems I have experienced and the lack of real answers
