Dan

I get this message on a users computer when they try to open an email. The
user is using Outlook 2000 with Sp3 and connecting to a Exchange 2k server.
I have tried reinstalling outlook, deleting the Outlook profile and
recreating it. I tried removing the add ins and still no luck. What works is
when i run outlook in safe mode. Any suggestions on what i can do to fix
this.

Rather than deleting and recreating the user profile, try
creating another profile from scratch and then change
Outlooks settings to prompt for which profile to use. If
the new one works, delete the old one.

Tried that and still no luck..

thanks

Hi,

Since the issue doesn't occur in Safe Mode of Outlook, it seems that the
issue is caused by third-party programs or plug-in. In order to narrow down
the issue, I would suggest you disable anti-virus software and firewall.
Especially, disable the Norton AV Office Plug-in or McAfee Office Plug-in
to check the issue again.

If the problem stops after running Outlook 2000 in Safe Mode, it is
probable that a certain Add-in was corrupt. Please follow the steps below
to solve the problem.

Note: With this method, there is the possibility that you will find the
problematic device on the first or second try, but it may take longer.

1. Open Outlook.
2. Select Tools->Options->Other->Advanced Options->Add-In Manager and then
clear all the checkboxes.
3. Add one check back each time to the list of Add-In.
4. Restart Outlook to check if the problem persists.
5. Repeat the above steps until the problem reoccurs.
6. Disable the Add-In to solve the problem.

If the issue persists when disabling all the add-ins, please capture a
screenshot of the error message and sent it to me at (e-mail address removed).
In addition, please send me the system information and event log if the OS
is Windows 2000 Pro or Windows XP.

Also, you may restart the computer in Safe Mode to check the issue again.

1. Restart the computer.
2. Keep pressing the F8 key until the Windows Startup menu appears.
3. Choose the Safe Mode, and press Enter.

Note: In the Safe Mode, your system display and Desktop will look and
perform differently than in Normal Mode. This is only temporary.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions, please feel free to post back!

Have a nice day!

Best regards,

Terry Liu
