Outlook hangs with IMAP

Outlook hangs up OFTEN on me. It will either hang up with a notice saying
"Send/Receive 79% complete" or something like that, or it will hang with a
little timer rotating in the bottom right corner. All there is to do then
is to right click on it in the toolbar and close it (it generates an error
when I try to close it). Also, if I try to open a folder or an email that
isn't downloaded yet, it will hang with the word "Selecting..." in the
bottom right and the rotating timer.

I've set the IMAP server timeouts all the way from the shortest to the
longest time but it doesn't seem to affect it. Does anybody have a clue
what I can do to get Outlook working without hanging on me?

Thanks,
- Andrew Clarke.

I am having a similar problem with Outlook hanging every
8 - 10 minutes. I initially had this problem running
Outlook 2000 on XP, so upgraded to Outlook 2002 as part
of Office XP. This didn't fix the problem. After 8 - 10
minutes, regardless of the action being performed Outlook
will lock up and come back with a "program not responding
message". The only course of action is to End Task and
send an error report to MS.

We are running this on a Toshiba Satellite 1110 notebook.

An extensive search of the KB by myself and the computer
support staff at my wife's office did not turn up
anything. So, naturally at this point, the software
people blame the hardware people.

A call to Toshiba's tech help resulted in a suggestion to
upgrade the BIOS. This did not solve the problem either,
so now the hardware folks blame the software.

Any suggestions??????
