I have one outlook client that freezes displaying the outlook splash screen
and then tells me it cannot find the server do I want to work offline.

System:

Win98 with office 2000 sp3 fully patched.

This problem started 3 day's ago. I ran sfc and it replaced 4 files and
then outlook opened all the way but hung after it opened (that was just
after running sfc now it's back to just the splash screen). I tried running
the fixmapi.exe but it didn't seem to do anything. I have also uninstalled
office and reinstalled. I believe the problem is mapi related. Any help
would be great.

Thanks

Mark,

Have you tried a new Outlook profile with a new name? During
creation of the profile, be sure to click the "check name" button to see if
we get a more detailed error message. It sounds to me like you are unable
to establish a good connection with your Exchange server. If you still
receive the same error, then make sure you can ping both the Exchange
server, and a global catalog server at that time. If you can, then my
first question would be "is anyone else experiencing this problem?" We
would need to run a NetMon and see what Outlook is requesting data from,
and then go look to see why that server is not responding. Places to look
include anything between the client and server, like a firewall or router.
