I use Microsoft Outlook 2002 SP1 and I have two questions:

1. What files should I backup to save my contacts and my inbox contents?

2. Is it possible to take these backups to another machine with Outlook
and merge them with existing conatct and inbox information?

Thanks

There is only one file that you need to back up to save your contacts and
Inbox and it is the Personal Folder file (.pst). Here are the steps to find
this file:
1. Open My Computer.
2. Go to Tools -> Folder Options.
3. Select the View tab and make sure "Show hidden files and folders" is
selected. Also Uncheck the box for "Hide extensions for known file types".
4. Close Folder Options and My Computer.
5. Go to Start and then Search or Find depending on your version of
Windows.
6. If you have WinXP Select "All files and folders".
7. On the "All or part of the file name" line type in *.pst and Click
Search.
8. This should find a file called Personal Folder.pst or Outlook.pst or
your username.pst.
9. Copy this file to CD.

Then you can take this file and put it on another machine and import it
into Outlook using the File -> Import/Export option.

I hope this information is helpful.
