I had to do a system recovery and I was able find all my files and then
reinstall the programs for them.
However I can not find my contacts for Outlook.
What file extension should I be searching for ?
I tried .dbx but only came up with the files associated with Outlook Express
and I need the Outlook contacts.

Thanks

Outlook keeps its data in a .pst file. See this site for all kinds of
information about Outlook, including where to look for the .pst file:

I found the file but I can't seem to find a way to open it or get the
contacts back into Outlook.
I do not have very extensive knowledge on how to go about this so please
bare with me if I seem to be a bit slow on how to do things.

You normally import the .pst file back into Outlook from within Outlook.
I believe the import process will allow you to choose what part of
the .pst data to import; i.e., only Contacts.

For more specific Outlook help, post in an Outlook newsgroup where
you'll get the Outlook experts. Try microsoft.public.outlook.general.

Unfortunately that's one of the quickest ways to a corrupt pst file! the OP
should go to File-Open in Outlook and navigate to the pst file to be
opened. They can then either set the old file as the mail delivery
location, or drag and drop the data into the new file.

HTH!
