When trying to send a fax from Outlook, I get the
message "no dial tone detected" - Of course this is
because I am using cable internet and not dial up...is
there anyway to set up Outlook to send faxes? I read
something about a filter...is that an actual physical
device or is it something available for download?

Fax uses phone lines. You must have an analog fax modem and a phone line.
Otherwise, you'll need to hire an Internet Fax service to send each fax for
a fee.

I recommend efax. I have been using them since 1999 and have been very
satisfied.
