Outlook failing to pull up some contacts

How do I make sure that when I type a letter in the "To" box, that outlooks
is pulling up everyone in my contacts? Currently it isn't and I know I have
these contacts, with emails. It's almost like it didn't index them or
something because when I hit the "to" button they all pop up and I can
populate the field that way.

The autocompletion cache is not connected to your Contacts list in any way.
Instead, it contains addresses to which you've sent mail in the past.
That's the way it works.

Instead, try autoresolution. Enter the first three characters of a contact
and press CTRL-K.

I understand what Brian has written, but is it possible please somehow to
clear the autocompletion cache? How big is it?
Thanks in advance

It's very easy to clear the autocompletion cache. With Outlook closed, just
delete the file
%AppData%\Microsoft\Office\yourprofilename.NK2. All cleared.
