I did something wrong with my files in OE6 and needing help to get them back
or original state. Somehow I clicked on a menu that gave me a list of other
programs to try to open my backup folder into. I selected Adobe Photoshop
(thinking it would not change files), but it did. They still show up as .dbx
files, but I am unable to view them anywhere now. Any ideas on what I did or
if it can be fixed?

I have been trying to figure out how to back up my current OE files without
changing the original dates to the current date and then how to import them
to CD.

JS,
What is the best way to make the backup folder of dbx files and retain their
original dates?

It doesn't matter what the dates are of the dbx files - the dates that
matter are those of the emails contained WITHIN the dbx files.
Just copy the message store.

It's not the .dbx file dates that matter, it's the email contained within
them and the original email dates will not change.
That said, I currently use Microsoft's SynToy to create and maintain
backups.
Prior to using SyncToy I just created a backup folder and copied the files
to this folder.

SyncToy:

Read SyncToy's instructions and options carefully before you pick a backup
method.
