When downloading multiple e-mails from ISP server, some
with attachments, if the connection times out and I
reconnect, it starts from scratch downloading already
downloaded mail. This is very time-consuming. How do I
stop this ?
 
Disable your anti-virus application's option to scan incoming (and outgoing)
mail. It provides no additional protection (and even Symantec says it's not
needed:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/docid/2001082921552806).

Tell your correspondents not to send such large attachments (e.g., MP3's).
